2021 NOMINATIONS ARE NOW open!

Award recipients will be honoured for their talent, drive, and achievements in making Cape Breton a better place to live, work and play. In addition, the Vital Awards will recognize employers who create employment and rewarding work environments for young professionals.

Stay tuned for more information about our Vital Award Ceremony. Our hope is to hold an in-person event, while closely following all Provincial recommendations and guidelines.

The award categories and nomination criteria include:

• Vital Excellence Award - Nominees are individuals who have played a vital role in their community through volunteerism, culture, leadership, innovation, etc.​

• Vital Employee Excellence Award - Employers can nominate an employee who has played a vital role in their workplace in Cape Breton.

• Vital Employer Excellence Award - Recognizes employers who have played a vital role in creating rewarding employment opportunities for youth in Cape Breton.

New award categories

• Vital Pandemic Leadership Award - Recognizes a company, organization, or an individual who has gone above and beyond to support Cape Breton Unama'ki through safety, advocacy, or relief measures during Covid-19 .

• Vital Newcomer Excellence Award - Recognizes a Newcomer who has made significant contributions to a community or communities in Cape Breton Unama’ki through leadership, mentorship, entrepreneurship, etc.

• Vital Young Leader Award - Recognizes an individual, group or organization under the age of 18 who has made contributions to their community through volunteerism, innovation or leadership.
